I have a wall oven and I would like instructions for installation of this part for that particular model. Will I have to take the oven out of the wall to install this part or is there another way to install it without having to do that? Any tips you have on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Answer Hello Jim,
If you're careful, (and maybe a bit lucky), you will not have to pull the unit from its' installation. Remove the two screws that hold the sensor in on the inside of the bake compartment and carefully slip it out. This is where the luck comes in. If you're lucky, the wire will have enough slack in it to allow the connector to also come through the hole. This will allow you to unplug it and connect the new one. If this happens, it is very important to use a long flat blade screwdriver to push the connector completely through the opening so it will not be between the panels with the insulation. If that happens, the connector will melt and the part will fail prematurely.
Now to cover the un-lucky occurrence. If the wires come loose before the connector comes through, the unit will have to be pulled to retrieve it. If this does happen, be sure to loosen the sensor wires from the device used to secure the harness. This will ensure that when the sensor fails again, the unit will not have to be removed to complete the repair.
