I had to replace my circulator fan on the fridge side of this unit. Ever since, I have had an issue with the evaporator freezing up on my and not allowing proper air circulation. The top thermistor reads as open, while the heater has resistance in the line (I don't remember the reading). If I order the thermistor, will it fix my problem?

Answer Hello Justin. You can try that, but usually in most cases, when the defrost fails on these models, it does require a evaporator replacement DA96-00020Q.

My daughters fridge is set to 36 on the electronic control. The temp floats very gradually from 55 down to 36 back to 55 and back to 36. It doesn't matter if I change temp up to 40 or down to 34 it tracks from 55 down to what is set.

Answer Hello Scott, You will want to check the thermistors to make sure that they are good. At the control board connector CN40 make sure that it is seated properly. Based on the range that you are getting in the ff compartment you will want to look for these resistances: 36 degrees 2.725 vdc and 12900 ohms and when at 55 degrees 2.205 vdc and 7888 ohms resistance.

I just asked this question. I have Samsung model # RS253BASB. My sensor reads 5.9K Ohms (Less when warmed, higher when chilled), the thermal fuse reads shorted and the heater reads about 100 Ohms. (120vac should draw 140watts). However the coils freeze up into a solid chunk of ice. Could the problem be in the main circuit board? If so, how can I test for that and how can I repair the board if it is the board? (almost $100 with shipping). And your answer was the evaporator is bad. How could the evaporator be bad if the sensor, thermofuse and heater resistance readings all read correctly? Please explain why you think the evaporator is bad?

Answer Hi Jerry. The last response was suggested because the way the defrost heater, thermostat and sensor come all in one piece instead of individually. We are sending fast track service sheet explaining the diagnostic procedure and control board checks. This will let you know if the main control board is warranted. If you need the heater for instance then you just remove the one from the evaporator assy. and replace it. Thank You.
