This ice maker is less than a year old and well maintained the unit would make ice for a day than not make anymore ice it keep the water moving , but when we took the the water sensor out of the water bath and wiped it down. It then ran again for a day then no more. I'm going to order water sensor. Everthing thing else checks out. Before the the ice maker would premature harvest. Go into defrost. Is this one of the problems with a bad water sensor. Thnxs any info would be a help. Thier is no tech support for maytag. What a waste of a product line , the cust bought it from Home Depot , called the support hot line they wouldn't cover warranty. They said its 2011. Now 2014. But receipt is dated 6 months ago from original purchase.

I replaced the water level sensor, however the unit does not fill the water pan enough. When the circulator starts it will run for the bugging of the cycle the it will suck air. Ice comes out, but it is extremely thin.

Note: This question is for the older version of this part, but we thought you might still find it helpful

My ice maker was working fine but full of mold. I removed the water pan, pump, and ice cutter. Cleaned everything and put it back together. During the fill cycle the water comes on for 10 seconds then shuts off. It is not enough water for the circulating pump to move water over the evaporator. If I manually fill the pan it circulates fine and creates ice. I thought the water level sensor was bad so I went into diagnostic mode, tested it, and it was able to tell when water touched it. Then I set the ice level to thick and turned it back on. The first cycle produced ice as normal, but the second cycle had the same issue of not filling the pan enough. What could this be? The water level switch or perhaps the control board?
