I put on a new belt. About a month later my daughter washed a heavy comforter, and the belt basically came apart in pieces. Is that the reason?

Answer Hi. An overloaded washer will be harder on the motor, belt and gears. There has to be a natural gap at the top of the load to the top of the tub cover of 2-3 inches. The agitator mover (vanes) grab the clothes while swishing back and forth pulling them down from the center of the tub and rotating them outward towards the insides of the inner basket. This movement loosens the dirt as the detergent works as well chemically. Suspending the dirt and flushing it out the spinning tub sides, going down the drain. Having said all of this, if there is not interior room in the inner tub for this constant action, it over-loads the motor, belt and gears. Since the belt is the "weak link" in the chain, then it will break. Another thing to do is if you do have this extra large tub size and the room discussed after loading then use a Delicate cycle and a slow spin speed for easier duty on the washer. Consider it the cheap part & lesson issue. Use a commercial type of washer at a laundry mat next time as they are commercial type of washers for the comforters. Belt part # W10006384. Thank You.

The pulley slipped off and wore through the plastic cover, now it won,t stay on,is there a better pulley to use that has grooves and will hold the belt on???
Tracy for Model Number WTW4850XQ0
Answer Tracy, Which pulley came off ? if it's the motor pulley, you'll need the motor assembly W10303798, if it was the" Sputch" pulley W10006356 Then you'll need the pulley, and make sure you torque the pulley nut W10163336 tight. And make sure you readjust the motor mount bolts, so the belt tension is correct, and you may want to install a dab of "loc tite" to the gearcase shaft to hold the splutch pulley nut in position. We'll send you some basic information, that should be helpful.
