I removed a couple of the shocks to see if they were bad. I noticed about an inch of slop before the shock appeared to work properly. Is this slop normal on these types of shocks? I would assume not. thanks, Tim

My washer started started making a loud banging noise when it was spinning fast. After taking a look inside I see that the drum is able to move around quit a bit in the washer, the bearings are fine though. The noise I was hearing is the drum slamming into the front of the washer. I noticed that the model only comes with 3 shocks, which is most likely the reason for failure. The side that has a single shock seems to be weak. Is it fine to install two shocks on this side so this doesn't happen again in another two years?

Hello. My front load whirlpool washer recently started shaking violently during the spin cycle. Inspection of the shocks displays signs that they're bad, they all have grease accumulated at the end of the shock plunger. After reading some of the questions asked in the past I stumbled across a few that suggested the tub be checked, if it spins free but moves the tub might need replacing. Can you please explain what type of movement you are referring to. My wash tub spins freely. However, it does have a bit of movement towards the shocks, not much but it isn't completely stationary. How much rotational play should there be if any . Thanks, Alex.
