I am replacing the 3 shock absorbers, part # W10084740 and want to know how to release the top plastic anchor, do you have to press in the tabs at both sides at the same time.
Thanks

my whirlpool duet sport has heavy vibration and looking at replacing shochs. A you tube clip shows a duet 4.0 that has a different looking shocks. can they be a exact replacment for pn#3998177. It appears to be much stronger ( heavy duty). the vibration problem seems to be common with this model (3 yrs.old)
Jim for Model Number wfw8500sr01 Whirlpool duet waher
Answer Jim, All front load washer have an issue with vibration. If you're sure the "shocks are worn out, then you need to replace them with the proper part, A heavier duty shock would create an even bigger problem. The most important part is to insure the washer is properly installed on a floor solid enough to properly support the machine. Follow the installation manual that came with the washer and go from there. Thanks

I believe the shocks on my machine are bad. They offer no resistance at all to up/down motion. The machine has a 3 point shock suspension system with 2 springs at the top. The shocks don't appear to be doing anything.
Tom for Model Number wfw8300s0
Answer Hello Tom! If the shocks have no resistance, they will need to be replaced. Your part number is W10480711. Thanks!
