Washing machine makes loud noise while in spin cycle. What would be causing this?
Answer Hello Paul. Check the pump 35-6465 and make sure it is ok. You can test it by removing the belt and turning the pulley by hand. If it is good, then the tub bearing may be your problem. Hope this helps.

During the wash cycle there is a loud grinding sound and the agitator shakes. Everything works properly except for the agitating part.
Answer Hello Jeff,
If the agitator 21001530 is tight on the transmission shaft, the issue will be internal to the gearcase and the transmission 35-6615 will have to be replaced.
Inner tub won't turn in either direction.
Answer Butler fixit,
The tub will not move turning it by hand at the unit brake is engaged. To find out if the units tub will turn you will need to tilt the unit back and pull off the belt. Turn the thrust bearing pulley on the transmission counter clockwise and it should push up on the brake and the tub will turn. In most cases if the unit is not spinning out then the thrust bearing is not lifting the brake and would need a new thrust bearing.
