My husband just replaced the part for my washer "Front bellow tub seal", but somehow the washer door stayed locked. What should we do now? Please help, Thank you

Our washer makes a loud racket, particularly when going into the spin cycle. It has been doing this for a couple of years. A sears repairman commented that it might be a broken bracket and that the washer might last a few days or several years. Obviously, it has lasted a while, but wondering if it would be worthwhile to fix. Can a reasonably competent DIYer do it? Would I need special instructions or is it fairly simple and obvious if I take the front panel off? What do you think?

My spring/shock is hanging loose. I believe the bracket is broken. Is this the correct part for Spring Bracket (Part Number: AP3128682)?
