How do I know if the lid strike is bad? I have replaced the lid latch and that didn't solve my problem. The washer starts and locks but when it is supposed to lock to start the wash, rinse and spin cycles the lid doesn't lock and I have to pause and restart the cycles.
Answer Nicole, Chances are the lid strike is OK, and the issue is elsewhere. REMOVING THE LID STRIKE ON GLASS LID MODELS 1.Push a small screwdriver into the hole of the lid strike to release a locking tab. 2. Turn the strike counter clockwise. 3. Pull the strike out of the mounting hole. If there is no apparent damage or deformation of the assembly, reinstall it and suspect that the actuator W10006355 and/or wire harness are producing a false or inaccurate signal to the control board causing the lid latch to malfunction.
Maytag fridge compressor won't run or it is clicking on and off and draw current around 7.5 amp. compressor fan is running.
What is the problem? is it overload or start capacitor or compressor problem? Thanks!
Answer Chris, The capacitor 65889-4 is the least likely issue. With an amp draw of 7.5 you're at the maximum allowable draw, but still in range. So you will need to check the compressor motor windings 12001872 for proper resistance and check each winding for a possible short to the casing. Use a multi-meter to test the compressor. First unplug the refrigerator and remove the start relay 2319794 off of the side of the compressor (don't remove the wires). Go to the single pin on the compressor and check to one of the pins that are side by side on the compressor. The run winding will read 1-5 ohms resistance. Then stay on the single pin and go to the other pin. The start winding will read 3-11 ohms resistance. If your readings are out of these ranges, then you have a bad compressor. If they are within these ranges, then you have a bad relay overload 12002782. If you do need the overload/relay kit or start device, you will need to order the parts based on the series number ( first two numbers of the serial number) in order to have the correct parts to install.
