Replacing part 2180236 and cannot release old switch from cover plate which I have removed from freezer door. Two hinged tabs and two center tabs holding old switch in place. Is there a trick to removing old switch?

Hello, I have a Kitchenaid model KSFS25FJBL01 Counter Depth Refrigerator, and the ice dispenser, water dispenser, and light are not working. Sometimes I'm able to get the light to work, so I know the bulb is good, but it's an intermittent problem. The ice and water dispensers never function. Does this sound like the front panel switch assembly (Part Number AP3086666) is bad? Can I use a multimeter to determine the problem? If so, what exactly should I look for? Thanks, Mark

My ice dispenser quit switching from cube to crushing. Is it possible that the switches in the door quit working? Every thing else works fine.

Hi, our water dispenser seems to only work occasionally. We replaced the water filter (which was still good), turned the temperature in the freezer up in case there was a frozen line, checked the freezer door switch and none of those fixed the problem. It seems to work after it sits for awhile but only for 1 glass of water, then it stops again. The water pressure is good and the ice maker makes ice and dispenses ice with no problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

On my Whirlpool model GD25BFCHB00 side by side refrigerator both the water dispenser and ice dispenser stopped working simultaneously. The ice maker itself is working and produces ice. The freezer door switch is working. The dispenser lock is unlocked. The wiring at the bottom of the door looks fine. Given all this, I suspect that the switch (part# AP3086666) that is attached to the dispenser face plate is the problem. It seems unlikely that both micro switches have failed. Does this sound plausible and is there a way to be sure? I have removed the dispenser face plate from the freezer door but have not been able to remove the switch from the dispenser face plate. My unit has decorative wood panels so the dispenser face plate is larger than the standard face plate. It does not have a standard overlay that is removable from the dispenser face plate. The switch does move around within the bracket enclosure and seems like it should be removable. Looking at the picture of the back of the switch on your site, there is a slot at the top in the middle for a screwdriver that might allow me to pry the switch out but it seems like the plastic will break. There are also 2 hinged tabs at the bottom on the sides as well but I haven't had any luck with these either. I fear that the bracket holding the switch has been glued to the face plate and that I'm out of luck. Any ideas? Thanks.
