How is the switch assembly (item # Ap3081046) on my KitchenAid trash compactor replaced?
Answer Hello Gab,
Turn off the breaker or unplug the unit. Pull out the drawer and remove the two screws at the bottom of the control which was behind the drawer when it was in place. The control panel should now slide up and off. Make a diagram of the wiring so you will know where to put the wires once the old one is disconnected and you need to hook up the new one electrically. The old control snaps in with plastic clips. Note how you remove the old one as the new one will go in the same way. Hook the wires back up and reinstall the control as the other one was to begin with. Reinstall the screws and reinstate power to the unit.
