Is replacing this switch pretty straightforward? Do I need to remove the entire front cover, which would require removing the entire unit to access, or can I just remove the front plate where the on/off switch is located?
Answer Hello Erika. You might have to pull the unit out 3 or 4 inches, but I have never completely removed the unit for the switch replacement. First, turn off the breaker to the unit. You need to ensure no power is there before attempting the repair. Better safe than hospitalized or worse! Remove the drawer by lifting the front of the drawer and pulling out, (careful as it is heavy). Remove the screws holding the front cover to the body. Flip the assembly up being careful not to damage or disconnect any other wires and note the wire locations so reassembly can be successfully accomplished. Remove the wires with needle nosed pliers. The switch snaps out of the panel easily. Snap in the new switch, reconnect the wires, and reassemble.
I hope this was useful in the completion of your repair and have a great day!
