How do you check a lid switch on a washer? Do I use a multimeter and chech across the switch?

Answer Hello Robert. Yes, and the lid switch should read closed when you close the lid on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Last night the washing machine stopped working. It will wash and begin the rinse cycle but only for a minute or so. I tried restarting it on different cycle types an still the same thing. As of right now it is sitting full of water.

Answer Hello Fix It. Disconnect the power to the unit. Remove the two screws in the corners of the panel securing the panel. Next unplug the lid switch and remove the two brass colored clips securing the cabinet to the back wall using a flat blade screwdriver to pry them out. Pull on the front of the cabinet and slide the cabinet off the frame of the washer. You can now access and replace the lid switch 3355458. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your answer on removal of the clips. Just to be sure that I got it right, do I stick a screwdriver horizontally under any loop in a clip and yank it up? Or do I try to pry vertically and squeeze the sides of a clip into releasing. I ask this because I don't understand how the clip is really locked in, i.e at the sides or the ends.

Answer Hello Tony. You will put the screwdriver inside the hook that is on the right side of the part picture 3349770. This should be inside the cabinet in a cut out. Then you pry toward the back of the washer to release the clips. Hope this helps.

I need to replace the lid switch. I think the washer top comes off from the rest of the washer cabinet? I took off the angled panel below the dryer noticed some clips and 2 screws that seem to hold the washer top. What's the technique for removing the clips, do I lift off or push off?

Answer Hello Tony. You will need to use a straight screwdriver and unsnap the clips 3349770 from the washer cabinet to remove the cabinet. Once the clips are removed, the cabinet should pull and slide off the frame. Hope this helps.
