I have a whrilpool cabrio dryer and when I hit the start button the drum does not turn but the heating coil turns on. Could it be a bad motor (motor number 8566152) or I noticed the switch on the pulley (part number 8564012).
Answer Mark, You most likely have a faulty motor W10463866. The dryer should not heat, unless the motor rotates and turns the drum. The idler pulley switch 8564012 would eliminate power to the motor, if the belt were broken. Without a model number and wiring diagram that's as far as we can get at this point. If you need more assistance, please include a model number of the dryer when you re post. Thanks
My dryer's timer ADDS time on the sensor cycles; I assume I need to replace the timer switch. Is this the right part?
Answer Hi Cathy. There is a thermistor on top of the blower housing assy. part # is 8577274. This will sense the moisture in the blower exhaust and send information to the control board. Replace this part. Then clean your entire vent system. You have a blockage or a kink allowing the lint and moisture to build up internally into the dryer. This "ages" internal parts and failures occur. Clean the outside vent cap / hood also. Thank you.
