the tub will not spin the pump works and the agitator works fine
Answer Jerry, You didn't include a model number, but on a Maytag top load washer, the pressure switch doesn't have an effect on the spin/drain cycle. You will need to check and make sure there's nothing stuck between the tubs or between the tub cover and tub. If that's not the issue, you most likely have a seized tub bearing 6-2040130 and tub seal 6-2095720
Our washing machine will not go to spin cycle after the rinse. If we wait a very long time (hours) it will eventually go to the spin cycle. Could this be in the switch? What would cause this and can we fix it?
Answer Hello Ken. You may have a bad motor assembly 27001215 or tub bearing R9900552. If you hear a loud roaring noise when the unit is in spin, then the tub bearing is bad. If the motor gets hot, and does not spin until it cools down, and the bearing is good, you will need to replace the motor assembly. Hope this helps.
