My burner knob will not turn. I think I may need this snap switch...or would I replace the valve? I am not sure what this snap switch does.
Answer Deb, You will need to replace the burner gas valve Y04100188 the internal components of the valve have seized together and won't rotate when the knob is turned, possibly due to excessive heat. The "snap switch" 74010438 controls the power to the downdraft fan motor. When the "E" burner (grille burner) is installed the switch is "closed" and allows the fan to run automatically. When the dual top burner accessory is installed in the bay, the assembly presses against the switch causing it to "open" eliminating the automatic function of the fan. You would have to manually select and turn on the downdraft fan to make it operate.
