I have had three pieces of cloths shrink. I always use tap cold. My wife changes it to warm or hot when she uses the washer. Can the tempature control switch # W10179666 cause this? Can any other switch cause this? The switch with the clear hose was replaced and the waher sounded better as it was back in cycle . It was loud again for a short period of time and now has corerected itself. Could that cause the tempature change also?

Water temperture control, cold and cold dark are HOT. Warm and hot are COLD, So far I have only checked the hoses, cold is cold and hot is hot. So if we want to wash on warm, we turn the knob to cold for hot for a bit and then back hot for cold, so we can get WARM water. Maytag Centennial commercial technologies top loader washer. s/n CY2140842

When the water selector is set to cold I get hot water. When it is set to hot I get cold water. Does this sound like the Water Temperature Selector Switch? I don't want to spend the money replacing this part unless someone is certain this is the issue. Thanks,

Latest Questions

My Whirlpool washer just stopped the other day. It will not fill on any setting, but will try to empty if I set it to spin. I checked the lid switch, and it is okay. I just replaced the temp selector switch (#W10179666) and still nothing. Getting really frustrated and out of ideas. I already spent $80 to replace the selector, and can't afford to go piece-by-piece. Any suggestions on how to test components? My next guess is the timer switch, but no idea how to test it out.

I only get warm water regardless of the temperature I select. Do I need to replace the switch that selects temperature or the sensor
