Most Interesting

My son's dryer will not run. I opened the top and found that the T-STAT HI LIMIT p/n AP4056436 was fried. It is now a grey chauky color and falling apart. The insulation to the quick disconnect terminal going to this part is chared and has started to melt. I know I have to replace this part, but is there anything else I need to check or replace prior to installing the new part? Did this part just fail or did something cause this part to fail?

If the high limit thermostat was bad, would this cause the dryer not to work?

My dryer runs but it won't produce any heat. I checked the heating element and it is still intact. Does this mean I need to replace the thermostat part no. 53-0771. Need help. Thank you.

My dryer overheats. I don't find any questions relative to this situation. The vent is not clogged.....the hot air coming out has melted some of the vinyl siding on the house. I don't find a typical thermostat for this model.
