Kenmore freezer doesn't stop running. I am an electrician. Do you have a printout of the electrical schematics? Any suggestions as to what could cause this issue is greatly appreciated?
Answer Hello Bea,
This can be caused by several things. You need to check all the way around the door to ensure the door seal is contacting the cabinet. An air leak will cause the unit to run constantly. If the hot coils are clogged with lint or the condenser (hot coils) fan isn't running, this can cause it. If it has no condenser fan and the coils are up the back of the unit, it will warm up if the coils are against the wall. If there are a lot of items on top of the unit, this will warm the unit up. If the compressor is hot to the touch instead of warm, you could have a partial restriction. If the compressor is cooler than room temperature and runs all of the time, the issue is probably a freon loss. If this doesn't help, please include the model number with your next question. Without a valid model number we cannot see if we can gain access to the wiring information.
