Our black/hot wire arced and melted the plastic terminal around it. The wire from the plug and to the oven look like they are okay. Would it be safe to say the terminal block failed only, or should we be replacing more?

Answer Hi Annette. If the wire eyelets and all can be cleaned off with a wire brush and are all intact, then you should be OK. You can quickly tell if the cord is OK by looking at the plug end and see if they are burnt'. If so then you need to replace the cord. The terminal block needs to have 6 - 3/8 nuts so when you stack the wires onto the studs you use the first one to tighten the assy. down. Then you use the top nut to lock the nut tight onto the assy. This way it does not loosen up under the natural movement of the life. Make sure as you use the cord clamp you have some slack towards the terminal block so the wires are not tight. Terminal block part # 9761958. Nuts part # 112432. Make sure the house supply outlet is tight. You will need a qualified electrician to check this out. It may be best to remove power and replace it anyway. Thank You.
