I initially had pump problems and have replaced both of the recirculation and reservoir drain pumps and the level sensor (since I was in there), but still have issues. The ice maker will start up, cycle by filling the reservoir and emptying it, then will make the first slab of ice. After that first slab slides out it is like it wants to start the second cycle, but it can't. It overfills the reservoir and won't stop until it kicks itself out, interior light goes out and control panel shuts off, like it shorts out? How can it do the first cycle make the first slab, then have trouble? Stepping through the diagnostics they stop at the Compressor and Condensor Fan Motor; however, it already made a slab of ice, so how can the compressor or condenser fan motor be an issue?
Answer Hello. Based on the information you provided, it leads to one thing. The control board is bad in the unit. If the water level sensor is new, the board is bad.
How can i test the thermostat to see if thats why my ice maker wont make ice. Water is running over the plate in the back but it is not forming ice.
Answer Hello Randy,
If the unit is cycling across the plate then the thermostat is good. You will want to check to make sure that the compressor is running. If compressor is running then there is some type of sealed system issue. If compressor is not running then you want to make sure that the condenser fan motor is running and check to make sure that the overload on the compressor is not tripping. If relay is bad on compressor it will cause the compressor to not run and make ice.
