What is the appropriate resistance range for this thermistor? Buried in frost I found it at 2.1kOhm. Would this be correct?

Have this refrigerator for less than 6 months, but out of the US. I have just replaced the board before it has a defrost problem. Not going into defrost cycle. I THOUGH IT WAS THE MAIN BOARD, BUT SINCE INSTALLING THE NEW ONE I HAS STILL ENCOUNTERING THE PROBLEM WITH THE FREEZER FREEZING UP. How to I check the defrost thermistor to determine if it is good? I would like to buy one to replace it. What else could be causing the refrigerator not to go into the defrost mode. Thanks Kumar

Evaporator coils are freezing up. After defrosting with hair dryer, the refrigerator will stay cool for about two weeks. Replaced electronic control board - did not fix problem. Measured heater: 36 ohms. Measured thermistor attached to the suction line while cold: 500 ohms. Is the thermistor measurement value good? What part is defective?
