The fridge is unpluged, if I use hot water to get rid of ice on evaporator, can it cause the Thermal fuse to go off?
Answer Hi Ron. Yes, the defrost thermostat/ bimetal will open on design as the temperature (heater) rise's to protect the cavity. Where this part fails is the closing so when power is sent from the defrost circuit. It will fail and not allow the heater to defrost and then the coils will continue to build up and block the back freezer inside wall . A no-cool follows and this part # is DA47-10148J. Thank You.
What is thermo fuse do? Is it just a fuse or a on/off switch?
Answer Hello Ron. The thermo fuse DA47-10148J turns the heater off when it reaches a certain temperature. Hope this helps.
