If a side by side refrigerator will not cut off what is the problem?
You will want to check the temperature in the refrigerator and freezer to see if they are correct. If the temperatures are too high then you will want to look to see if there is frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If there is then you will be dealing with a defrost issue. If there is not frost on the back wall you will want to pull the rear cover from the back of the freezer compartment and check to see if there is a even frost pattern. If there is no frost pattern then you will want to check to make sure that the compressor is running and if so then you have a sealed system issue. If there is a even frost pattern then you will want to check the dampers and check the fan to make sure operational. Also check the condenser coils which are located under the front of the cabinet.
The evaporator fan motor & the bimetal defrost timer were bad. I did replace them, but it is still not working. It is frozen up. I was thinking about the defrost timer electronic one. The heater is good. What do you think?
Answer Hello Menice,
The defrost circuit is only designed to melt the frost away that can build up between defrost cycles. If you didn't thaw the frost build up with a hair dryer before reassembling, the frost in the unit will never allow normal operation to take place. If you did, there is still a component that is not operating properly.
Freezer and fridge have both stopped working. Not cold at all.
Answer Hello Alison,
Since both the freezer and refrigerator have stopped cooling, I would check the start relay 2262184 first. The relay sits on the side of the compressor and allows compressor to turn on. If it is the relay you would also want to replace overload 2169412 as well. You may also hear a clicking noise associated with the failed relay. If it is not the relay then it could possibly be the compressor 8201697 that has failed. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
