my refrigerator became not cold enough any more. It works for a while then not cold again (both the freezer and frige), the compressor is working. I have bought a defrost timer and a bipolar sensor and replaced them without any improvement. Now I am thinking it may be the thermal stat or the IC board with thermal stat is malfunctioning.
IN your experience what would be the problem? I like to get the right part to fix it.
both fans are working (the one on top for compressor and the one from freezer to frige).
Thx for your help.
Answer Michael, Are you sure the evaporator fan 4389155 and or the condenser fan 2169135 are running. If the evaporator fan isn't running, the cold air won't circulate. If the condenser fan isn't running, the compressor will overheat and shut down on the safety thermostat on the compressor. It's a remote possibility, but the thermistor and PC board control the air flow into the fresh food compartment, when it needs to cool. If it were at fault, the freezer would be fine, and the fridge would be warm. The condenser fan and the compressor should run at the same time. if the fan is not running but the compressor is, the fan is at fault. The evaporator fan cycles off and on through the Refrigerator control PC board and thermistor, but at this point it's the least likely component to cause the issue.
