I am looking for a Thermostat part # 700158 and everywhere I look it says not available. Where can I find this part?
Answer Hello Sandy! Unfortunately, the thermostat 700158 has been discontinued with no further replacements or cross references available and our company is unaware of any other available sources. Sorry about that!
I am replacing the oven thermostat with P/N AP 4087366. Are there any special procedures I should be aware of in thermostat removal and installation. Is there anything more involved other than removing the control panel? Is access to the oven cavity straight forward?. How much care should I take in manipulating the temperature sensing probe and wire connecting the thermostat body? Thanks
Answer Mitchell, Like any older vintage machine, you do need to be cautious with the wiring, connectors and terminals, wires and connectors take a "set" after a few years and can be a bit difficult to work with, so be cautious once you have the control panel loose and ready to raise and remove, you may knock or pull a wire or terminal loose from the components. The thermostat capillary tube (temperature bulb and tube) are hollow and filled with a fluid that reacts to the heat. Make sure you don't pinch, kink or break the tube when you install it through the oven cavity and into the void in the cabinet.
How does the wiring hook up on the new 700158 thermostat compared to the old part?
Answer Hello Gary. The wiring should connect to the same labeled terminals on the unit.
