Most Interesting

My AFCI breaker trips when I touch either the start knob or timer dial. I have tried plugging into another 120v (my washer's) outlet and the dryer trips that one too, while my washer works fine in the dryer's outlet - I can rule out the breaker. I'm trying to find the culprit, and when I took the cycling thermostat off it rattles like something is loose - what I would associate a blown filament in a light bulb. Is that a normal sound or maybe something causing my tripping breaker?

If replacing therostat and/or heating element...do you do this by removing back of dryer? If so, is it best to put dryer face down on the floor or low table?

Sometimes my dryer gets very warm and dries close reasonable well. Other times not getting hot at all. Does this indicate thermostat or heating element? Thanks
