My oven will not light. When you turn on the oven, the igniter comes on and glows bright but will not light the burner. If you tap on the oven valve a little it will light oven and burn fine.

This sounds like the gas valve 98014016 has definitely failed. There is, unfortunately, no fix for this, short of replacing the faulty valve.

Our oven only works sometimes. Sometimes it will not turn on, sometimes it will. What would cause this? If it is the thermostat, could there be a bad connection? How can I test this? The thermostat is a VERY expensive part. Thanks!

Answer Hello Dennis. When the oven does not come on, and it is suppose to turn on, you can test and see if the thermostat W10159016 is sending power to the element in the oven. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Answer Hello Jim. If the oven continues to heat after you have turned it off, you have a bad thermostat. Hope this helps.
