My washer will not agitate. It fills, spins, empties etc but does not agitate so does not clean. I have checked everything I could think of and came to the conclusion that there is no voltage leaving the timer to the motor during agitator period. I confirmed that the motor will agitate by jumpering 120 volts to blue wire out of timer to motor agitate start and to yellow wire out of timer to motor agitate fast - during this test the motor did run for agitation. I have two questions - do you agree that this is most likely a timer issue? and second - can you tell from the model number how old this washer is? At $121 for the timer I might be better off purchasing another used machine instead of repairing depending on the age.

Whirlpool Timer (Part Number: AP4024544) We purchased the timer above and installed it yesterday in our whirlpool washer. No problem with the installation and knobs appeared to go on fine and click in and out. We put the unit into a wash cycle and it appeared to start fine but on returning later, the tub was absolutely full and water was everywhere on the floor. The indicator arrow on the dial face did not appear to have moved from the initial point at the very beginning of the cycle indicator. We replaced the unit because the tub was not draining consistently and we ended up with up to 1/3 of the tub full of water at the end of a wash cycle after the spin cycle. Is there a knack to replacing that unit? It appeared to go in OK and the electrical connections went right back on. Something to do with the knobs and timer shaft perhaps? thx

Latest Questions

I am getting a lot of noise from the timer area. The sound it is making is like that of a bearing going bad. The wash stopped in mid-cycle and I could not get it to work again. I then started smelling hot wires and/or switch. Since everythhing seems to be confined to the timer, I was going to just replace it. Am I on the right track? Second.. how does the spin nob come off of the timer shaft? Thanks!

Hello, I bought this timer from you. Still I have the same problem. My admiral washer machine stopped at mid cycle and does not spin, drain or continue. MAIN knob will not ADVANCE. I emptied, and I checked the following: 1) Lid switch and works fine. It clicks,I took it out and check continuity and it is good. 2)The drain pump is good. I took it off and it is clean an rotates fine 3) Belt is fine.4) All pulleys rotate freely manually from underneath, after taking belt off. 5) ordered a new timer and belt and installed them. Same problem: Main Knob will not advance. I can hear a low sound that you always hear when it would be getting ready to advance to next step on cycle but it never advances. 6) Water supply is fine and fills up ok. 7) When I spin main pulley manually from underneath without a belt, the agitator moves fine. Machine will not spin or rinse or drain even if I try to move main knob manually to do these. I need advise what to do next. Thank you very much
