On a maytag MAV208DAWW, how do i remove the timer knob and replace my bad timer

Answer Hello Garybo.
On the back of the timer there is a green clip. You will pull out on the clip and remove it from the timer 21002232 to remove the knob 21001985.
How can I tell if the motor or the timer is bad. Washer will not spin and bad electrical burn smell is present. Even if I advance the knob it will not spin.

Answer ErobE, First check and make sure there are not a small article stuck at the top ot between the tubs.If the washer fills and washes, but won't spin and drain, the motor 21001950 is not the issue(usually), and you'll need to concentrate on the wiring and timer 22004010 or 22004309 depending on the serial number on the washer. Good Luck and Thanks
