My dryer works, but the timer knob does not function properly. The clothes get dry, but the timer does not move. Do I have to replace the entire timer mechanism or what?

I purchased this timer unit and properly installed it according to the color code descriptions, all terminals have power (test lighted them) except for the ground. The problem with the timer not advancing is still an issue. It intermitently works on the permanent press setting but on the more dry/less dry cycle you have to manually move the timer until the cycle is complete then it will advance on its own. Please advise. Thank you.

The timer quit working so I purchased one of yours and installed it today and it also does not function. I can manually run it through all the settings and the dryer functions properly except the timer. I re checked for proper wire placement and part # and it's the correct timer. Then I checked the wiring diagram and it shows a cycling thermostat that the orange and blue wire from the timer connect to it. Could this be the problem and need replacing? Or is there something else I need to check? Thanks Tim
