I purchased this timer unit and properly installed it according to the color code descriptions, all terminals have power (test lighted them) except for the ground. The problem with the timer not advancing is still an issue. It intermitently works on the permanent press setting but on the more dry/less dry cycle you have to manually move the timer until the cycle is complete then it will advance on its own. Please advise. Thank you.
Loretta for Model Number Maytag dryer Model DE 313
Answer Hello Loretta. Contrary to popular belief, the heat in the dryer does not dry the clothes. The air flow does. The heat is an assistance to the air flow. The heat evaporates the moisture but the air flow carries the moisture away from the clothes. In light of this information, I would recommend that you check your exhaust duct to ensure that it's not crimped or too long and complicated or clogged. The shorter and straighter the exhaust is, the faster the clothes will dry, the lower the electric bill will be, and the longer the dryer will last. The timer is probably fine. If the timed dry cycle works I'm sure the exhaust is the issue. Sure hope this helps you!
