I am having difficulty with my dryer the initial problem was no heat and the timer wasn't advancing. I replaced the Thermal cut off and Dryer Thermal Fuse and have installed a new timer which I purchased the timer from you.
The new timer is still not advancing and I still have now heat! Any ideas?
This issue sounds like it could be caused by a faulty motor. If you still are having no heat then the motor would most likely be the cause but you could check on the motor from terminal 1 with the motor running to see if there is 120 vac at that point. If not then the motor switch is bad and the motor would need to be replaced.
How does the auto dry cycles work?. Is it by sensing the temperature of the exhausted air (assuming dry air is hotter than humid air) or is there a humistat somewhere that senses the humidity of the exhausted air?
Both thermostats have been replaced. Prior to and after replacing the thermostats, the timed drying and fluff dry cycles worked fine. However, the auto dry drying cycles tumble dry just fine, but do not advance the timer knob nor auto stop. Do I need to replace the timer to get the auto dry cycles to work properly?
Answer Hello Rod. The timer has a Auto Sensor Dry cycle to use according to the size/load and time selected for the clothes needed. The timer itself will regulate the amt. Of time is needed to dry the clothes. In the past 10-15 yrs. there have been more updates to help assist the timer make different calculations. The auto sensor has 2 curve parallel bars on the inside of the lint catcher area. When the clothes pass over these bars (as auto sensor is selected) the moisture from the clothes will rub (short-out) these bars and stall the timer to give more time for drying to occur. There are more models that will show the blinking of a red bar for the customer to visualize while this action is occurring. This is part Of an electronic board that actually stalls the timer motor advancing electrically. There are different types available but the principals are really the same. The timer for your model is part #3394762. Thank you.
