My dryer knob will turn and feels as if it engages however the push button start will not start the dryer if I move the knob to certain settings I can get it to push start and run as normal. However the spots that the dryer actually works is only at the 10 minute mark on the timed cycle and the cool down cycle on gentle. I believe it my be the timer but not sure. Any ideas?

lo0king at the back of the timer - on the left side is a blk wire and a red wire - when the dryer is on with the motor running there is no voltage drop across these wires and heater does not come on - is the timer bad? or is it the motor sw? how do you check?
