My washer runs through it cycle but when it comes to the spin cycle it won't start spinning until you either lift the lid or pull & push the switch . Once it starts spinning it seems to spin fine and spins all the water out of the clothes. I have already checked the water pump and removed the wash drum and checked for debris clogging the the pump inlet every thing is ok there. Any ideas ?

I have a old Kenmore heavy duty portable washing machine that hooks up to the kitchen sink. The machine will no longer fill in any of the wash cycles, however, if I select the rinse cycle I can get it to fill that way. Any solutions?

I have an old Kenmore washer that my wife and I really like. We inherited it from a family member and it has been running fine for the last two years. Recently though, it has been stopping directly before it drains the washer. Often times we'll come back to find that all of our clothes are suspended in water and the washer has just stopped. From there we can usually play with the knob and eventually get it to drain and once it does it finishes the cycle fine. However, sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get it to get past whatever glitch it seems to be encoutering directly before it drains. Is this a likely problem with the timer? Is there any way to test to see if that is the problem before buying a new one?

My washer fills with water but nothing else happens. It does not spin, agitate, or drain. Could the problem be the lid switch?

So I changed the clutch assembly as suggested but it still will not start to spin in the reg or HD cycles only the gentle and hand wash. agitates and drains just fine but when it gets to the spin for the rinse or final spin it simply jerks like it want to start spinning but wont and drains. If I push in the control knob and pull it back out you can see the tension release on the drum and it will spin. I am very thankful for the help but cant afford to just keep going part after part.

Kenmore series 70 washer washes fine but will not start the spin cycle in the regular or heavy duty cycles. It drains but will only start to spin if you push the control know in and wait a second to pull it back out then it does spin. Would this be a clutch issue or a timer problem as it is not in every cycle?( reg and HD are used most) thanks for your help
