How to find out if timer is bad?

When dryer is set to the timed dry cycle, the dryer starts, heats up, and runs for about 4 to 5 minutes before shutting itself off. When using the auto-dry settings, it works fine. Dryer is located in an unheated room (next to the hot water tank and furnace) off of the garage. Bad timer??

The dryer will not shutoff, and it gets very hot but will not dry the clothes. I believe I need a timer since it will not advance. Trying to figure out if I need a heating element as well. Any help will be great!

My dryer is not heating, but the timer is not advancing, could it just be the timer? or do I need to get a heating element too??

Jimmie for Model Number 110.666.42500

I didn't take a photo before removing the wires from Timer and when I start the Dryer the wires are sparking. Therefore, I need the Wiring Diagram Sheet (P/N LIT8528192) to help with reconnecting the wires to the Timer.
