I have a Wirlpool Estate Dryer (model - EED4100WQ0)
Everything runs fine, except for the following.
When I turn the setting dial/ timer knob to a setting, and press the start button, everything starts as it usually did. But the setting button (timer), sits in the same position. It doesn't advance towards the off position. So if I don't open the door, it will continue to run forever. I have also noticed, that it is now not producing any heat. Is that possiblly a safety feature, where if the timer malfunctions, the dryer does not contiue to heat and potentially case a fire?
I'm not sure where to start. Should I start at the setting / timer control panel, or the heating element?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Answer Hello Andy. If the timer is bad, it can affect the heating. However, if the heat does not work, it is normal for the timer not to advance. Mka eusre you are losing the power to the heater from the timer and replace the timer if so. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
