The elements keep on when I have timer in timed drying or in auto drying position on timer dial even when the door is open the drum cuts off when door opns but not the heating elements. When I have the timer in the off position the elements go off and don't produce heat. My wife opened the door unloaded the clothes and closed it and usually the elements go off but not now. Please could you tell me what is the problem. Maybe the Timer?

This has just started. With the timer on a drying position like timed dry, even with the door open and the drum not spinning, the heating coil is active and hot. When I put the timer setting in the off position, door open or closed, the coils are not heating. Came home the other night and the coils were on and the top of the dryer was hot. What could be causing this?

Our dryer is running hot and can not be controlled by the temperature switch. It was noticed about 3 weeks ago and ran in the "normal dry" mode. the dryer ran almost all night. I noticed it still running at 3AM. I checked the Hi-Limit and cycling thermostats. Even putting on griddle to activate after checking at RT. The both work fine. I checked the cycle switch. It was reading 0.01 resistance on low, 6.6 to 7.8 K ohms on medium, and no reading on high. I just replaced it last night and still get the same readings. I am thinking it actually might be the timer. How do I check the timer and/or what else can I check to see what is going on? (Sorry for the long note)
