Hi, my dishwasher heating element does not come on during the wash cycle to superheat the water and does not come on to dry the dishes when the button is in the dry position. I thought for sure the heating element was bad so I bought one and the new one didn't turn on either. Then finally I went and bought a continuity tester. My old one was fine. The button to turn on the power dry also works. Does the timer control the heating element? And is this a common problem that occurs in these dishwashers? Will a new timer fix my dishwasher or could it be something else? Thanks, Neil

I've got an ~2 year old Amana dishwasher. The pump started making a funny noise while running awhile ago and I eventually narrowed the problem down to the dishwasher not adding water at the beginning of the wash cycle (the pump was running dry). It adds water just fine during rinse so I know the inlet valve is working, and if I add some water myself before wash the cycle completes with no problems. I'm at a loss, could it be the controller? It's one of the older dial-timer controllers, rather than a digital display. Thanks!

Latest Questions

I have a 10 yr old whirlpool dishwasher that I use from time to time. I generally wash my dishes by hand. (still old fashion) Right before the holidays I loaded it up and turned it on and the only thing it did was hum and hum and hum. Someone said that because I don't really use it the motor went out from it sitting and it would be best just to buy a new one. I am unemployed and extra money for a dish washer is very hard to come by. So I am turning to you in hopes that you can tell me what you think it could be. await your reply.

My dishwasher will not spray water on the wash cycle but it will on the rinse cycle. Is this the timer causing this problem?

Dishwasher dose not start on pots & pans setting, but will start on next setting. Dishwasher otherwise works fine. Could this be cam or timer and how dose knob come off to change timer? Thank you
