The timer does not rotate on its own, each cycle works but the knob needs to be turned to operate them. Is the timer out?

Answer Dean, from the information given you'll need to replace the timer. The timer for your model is part number 99001142. Thanks!
I installed a new timer and still have the problem which is that the DW will fill on the rinse and the prewash. It will not fill on the wash and the first rinse but it will fill on the second. The only way I can get DW to clean dishes is by adding a bucket of hot water to the wash and the first rinse. (I know to do this because the pump is running and the soap basket is open but no water in DW. The float switch is free. The brand new timer gives the same results as the old timer. Please help???

Answer Gary, You'll need to check the Drain hose, and make sure there is not a syphon effect occurring, and the hose is high enough for the tank to hold water. Then check the Blue #29 wire between the timer and the float switch, unplug the wire harness connector and check all the terminals in the connector, and all the pins on the timer to see that the harness terminals are properly attached to the timer pins( scratches on the pins is a good indicator), Check and clean the float 99002363 and the float guide, and check that the float switch 99002560 is properly mounted to the bracket 6-912656 and the lever moves freely. On this older unit, you will also want to check the wire harness in the lower right hand area of the door, The wires could be internally frayed, from opening and closing the door .
