Can you ship this part (Maytag part number=61003601) to Australia?
Answer Hello Su. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship outside of the US at this time. We will need a US physical address to ship parts to.
My freezer keeps freezing up. I have checked the resistance and it seems fine. I put the defrost heater and thermostat in my second refrigerator' freezer and the resistance in the heater was low. I then checked the resistance when it warmed up and it was around 230kohms. However, I also checked the voltage at the heater and it was 240V (Australian model) but the heater still wasn't getting hot. Even when I turned the yellow dial under the defrost timer and the voltage at the heater didn't change.
I would really appreciate advice on how to test this properly.
Answer Dermot, If you have voltage on the yellow wire at the heater connection terminal, that tells you the cold control, defrost timer, and wiring to the heater are operational. You now need to check for voltage from the heater to the thermostat, and from the thermostat to the neutral (white wire) leg of the main wire harness. You'll need to do your voltage checks to chassis ground, You may have a loose connection in the wiring, or a heater element that is breaking down"under a load" (voltage applied to the circuit), You'll need to conduct the test with the timer in the defrost mode, and the defrost thermostat "closed"(the thermostat cold). Thanks
