Answer Hello Mark. Remove the wires from the heater and test for 120 volts on each wire. Which ever wire is dead, you will trace and see if it leads to the timer. If so, replace the timer. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
