My igniter won't stop clicking after my wife cleaned the stove. Checked all the valve switches and no power going through them. What are the chances it could be the igniter module?
Answer Jim, It's not likely the spark module 1430322. If that was the case, the igniter wouldn't be "clicking". Chances are when she cleaned the cooktop, she allowed water or the cleaner to spill under the knobs and fall on the igniter switches. This causes a direct short to ground and the igniter reacts by clicking. Once the water evaporates the clicking will stop. You can also remove the knobs and use a hair dryer to dry the area, or leave the unit without power for a few days, and carefully light the burners with a match or grille igniter. If the issue still remains, then you'll need to remove the switch console and check the ignition switches for damage.
How do I change the left side switch ignitors.
Answer John, First thing, remove power to the cooktop and turn the gas supply off at the wall. Remove the vent cover grille, burner knobs, and vent motor knob. Remove the two phillips head screws that attache the escutchean to the cooktop, on the inside of the blower plenum. Lift the escutcheon up in the back slightly and slide the assembly away from the front, until the locking tabs are free and you can then lift the escutcheon up and off the housing. Now you should have access to the switches, remember to change them one at a time, so you don't mix things up. labelling them can be helpful as well. Reverse the procedure, restore power and gas and check the burners for operation.
When I turn on the left burners, front or rear the fan blower comes on. Does not happen when using the right burners.Blew out the switch with air for moister, same thing happens. any suggestions?
Answer John, First, check the "tongue" or pin, on the bottom of the areation pan 3401X055-09 make sure it hasn't broken off or bent up. If the tongue doesn't activate the fan bypass switch, the fan will run, whenever a burner is turned on, it's designed to do that, because of the grille burner in the left side bay. You can remove power to the cooktop, remove the burner and pan assembly, and using a small scredriver, insert it into the opening in the bay wall and press down on the switch lever and listen for the switch to "click" off and on several times.
