I'm having trouble diagnosing the problem with this refrigerator. It keeps getting stopped up when it defrosts. The water, when I get it thawed out, drains real slow. Is this the drain that goes from under the condenser to the pan underneath? And, if so, how do I change it? Also, this refrigerator is slow to defrost. The thermostat and heater are working fine. But I'm not sure where to find the defrost timer. Is it in the board under the controls?
Answer Hello Jeff,
The defrost control on this unit is electronic W10503278. The drain should be thawed out with a hair dryer and chased with a piece of weed eater line. You can then put in one table spoon of white vinegar. This is basically all that can be done without design modification. You should make sure the evaporator fan motor is turning full speed and if you stop the fan from turning that it starts back up full speed when released. If it doesn't, the issue could be lack of air circulation, causing the drain to get too cold before the defrost cycle.
