Where do I find the model number on a Whirlpool washer?
Nomodel
Answer Hello,
If you raise the lid and squat down and look under the bottom edge of the opened lid you should see the units' I.D. tag. The top number is the model and the bottom number is the serial number. Just in case you have a problem finding it, here's a link describing the I.D. tags possible locations. You will see this after you follow the link. Click on the model number locator at the bottom (it's written in blue and says "Model Number Locator):
If you already have a part number, use Search by Part Number below.

Model number is not hard to find. It's usually stamped on a small tag in a visible location on your appliance. No need to look in the back of your appliance. Use our Model Number Locator for more help.

The washer continually fills with water and never shuts water flow off.
Frank for Model Number Whirlpool wtw5540sq0
Answer Hello Frank. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve 8578341 in the unit.
Sometimes, when filling the washer with hot water (only on largest cycle), the machine will switch to warm toward the end of the fillup. Is this likely to be a faulty valve, faulty control or ...?
Al R. for Model Number wtw5530sq0
Answer Al, Your washer is probably operating "normally". The water valve 8578341 has a thermistor or bi metal installed in the water flow. Based on the temperature selected, the water valve cycles the hot and cold water solenoids off and on, in an attempt to reach the prescribed water temperature. A quick, easy check, fill the washer on a hot wash setting, take a thermometer and set it in the water for a few minutes, the water temperature in the tub should be in the neighbor hood of 110 dgrs. F. +/- 10 %. If you're in that range then the washer is working properly. Thanks and Good Luck
