Answer Hello Gary, This will either be the water inlet valve 8578341 thermistor or the temperature switch 8578337. The thermister cycles the hot or cold mixing valve of or back on to control the water temperature.

Answer Ron, It could be the fill valve, but first check and make sure the fill hose and fill valve debris screens are not clogged. Make sure your hot water temperature is 120 dgrs.F. and your cold water is not too cold. Any one of these issues could cause the washer temperature to fluctuate or exceed the bi metal switch perameters.

Answer Hello Frank. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve 8578341 in the unit.

Answer Al, Your washer is probably operating "normally". The water valve 8578341 has a thermistor or bi metal installed in the water flow. Based on the temperature selected, the water valve cycles the hot and cold water solenoids off and on, in an attempt to reach the prescribed water temperature. A quick, easy check, fill the washer on a hot wash setting,take a thermometer and set it in the water for a few minutes, the water temperature in the tub should be in the neighbor hood of 110 dgrs.
