My Whirlpool oven does not work. The controls are all working though but when I turn on the oven, there is no flame coming out? Is it the gas valve?

My gas oven range is not heating up. The burners work fine, but when I try to turn on the oven, I hear one click, but not the pop and hiss of the igniter and gas flowing. I was originally told that it was the spark module board, which we replaced, and it turned out that was not the problem. We are now told that it is the gas safety valve. How likely is it that this is the correct diagnosis, as we are already spent a couple hundred on the spark module board and really can't afford to put much more into this repair.

My Whirlpool oven and broiler will not light. When I try to bake I hear the valve click twice but there is no spark. When I try to broil nothing happens, the cooktop burners do ignite. The gas valve has 250 ohms across the bake solenoid but very high ohms across the broil solenoid. I'm pretty sure my gas valve is bad. Will this cause the spark module to not spark bake and broil or do I have a bad spark module as well?

Latest Questions

I was told that my gas oven needs a new regulator. Is the regulator the same as the gas valve (part no. 15) in your diagram? There isn't a regulator shown in the diagram.

When I open my oven door partially, I smell gas towards the top opening. I removed the oven door, baffle burner plate, and oven flame spreader. I smelled around it and the smell seems to trace back to the oven bake burner, which I removed. This leads me to think that the gas valve (Part Number AP5306380) is leaking gas since this is what supplies the oven bake burner. 1st Question: Is it okay to apply a small amount of dishwashing liquid to the tube tip that points to the sky to see if it leaks, or will this create more problems? 2nd question: Is the gas valve (Part Number AP5306380) a common source for the gas leak symptom that I described?

I replaced the gas safety valve on my whirlpool oven, now when I turn it on you can smell strong LP fumes. I'm being told to flip the switch to LP but the only switch I have on it says "on' or "off" and cuts off flow. Also says I need to adjust the orifice. Could you walk me through these steps? I'm an HVAC student and it would benefit me greatly if I could do this myself.
