The minute this DW was installed I began to have water hammer issues (where the prior DW did not). I suspect its an issue with the valve closing too quickly. Would this part be a good place to start or could it elsewhere?
Answer James, tolerances do vary, especially between brands and manufacturers. In some cases between valve and valve. Replacing the fill / inlet valve W10327250 may help reduce the "hammer" effect. In most cases you can resolve the issue by reducing the water flow at the supply line shut off valve, but you do have to maintain a minimum 7 GPM water flow to allow for a proper fill and water level for the dishwasher. The recommended parameters are : A hot water line with 20 to 120 psi water pressure can be verified by a licensed plumber. ¦ 120°F water at dishwasher. ¦ ³/8" O.D. copper tubing with compression fitting or flexible braided water supply line. NOTE: ¹/2" minimum plastic tubing is not recommended. There are also anti hammer devices available through your local home improvement center or hardware store, or you may have to strap or block the hot water line to the kitchen faucet or supply line to the dishwasher.
Dish washer runs for about 15 min. then stops and no lights come on or flash I checked for codes code 6-1 and 6-4 show looking at the tech sheet 6-1 could set 6-4 code when I open door on the right cycle the right amount of water is in the washer [1/4'' above the element ] these codes point maybe the fill valve but why is there always water in the tub at the right time. any help would be needed
Answer Dean, If you're sure the dishwasher is level in both directions(front to back & side to side) and the dishwasher detergent or rinse aid is not foaming or sudsing, then you will need to check for the proper fill amount. Start the dishwasher allow it to fill and start washing. Stop the machine and drain the water into a large bucket, There should be approximately 1.5 gallons of water, if the dishwasher is filling proper and the float switch is opening properly. You'll also want to inspect the check valve 8268375 in the pump assembly( you'll need to remove the accumulator( pump filter/cover) to access the valve, make sure there is no blockage of debris holding the valve open and allowing water to syphon back into the tub.
