My ice maker on my Whirpool refrigerator is not working. How can I tell if it is the ice maker unit or the solenoid?

We have a leak on the water valve inlet Mfg W10238100 and your part number AP4537880. I can see that water is leaking from the plastic compression fitting that the water line is attached to. I was able to release the water line and then push it further into the compression fitting on the valve, but it still leaks although not as much. Is the compression fitting a replacement part or do I have to replace the entire valve/solenoid part?

So I have a leak in my water line just next to the compression fitting, is there a way to remove the line that is in the compression fitting without having to replace the solenoid? Or do I have to purchase a new solenoid to get a new compression fitting?

The plastic line I'm talking about is the one going from the freezer to the bottom of of the inlet valve not the one going to the household water supply. It goes into the blue pastic hole in the bottom of valve. Thanks,Bob

How does the plastic water line on the refrigerator connect to to the water inlet? Is there a plastic fitting that keeps it from leaking? Mine is leaking where the tubing goes into the water inlet valve.
