I ordered AP2990218, Oven Control, for my oven. Are there any tips or instructions on how to install it. Thank you in advance!!

Answer Hi Frank. Remove power. Remove the door and drawer so it is lighter to move out. Turn the house gas valve off behind the unit. Then remove the rear panel . Un screw the gas pipe threads from the valve. Un bolt the valve from the mount frame. Replace the part physically on the mount area. Then get some yellow gas rated Teflon tape or gas rated pipe thread dope. Then liberally apply the dope or use 1-1/2 wraps of the tape to insure no gas leaks in the future. You will also need a mixture of dish liquid / water for a final bubble test b/4 plugging unit in. If you are using natural gas then you lift the plastic cap off the regulator top and see if it had been shipped correctly and you are looking at the "Nat" stamped showing at the top of the nut. If you are using "LP" gas then you need to loosen the cap and invert the brass nut upside down so when you lift the plastic cap after reinstalling, it will quickly show "LP". Whichever gas you are using you will insure the cap/nut assy. is converted. Make sure that you do not loose the spring inside of the diapraghm. Make sure the gas valve lever is on and not off or gas flow will not exist. Now then the bake burner orifice (by the wire connections) is shipped for "Nat" gas also. It should be approx. 1-1/2 to 2 full turns from bottom out on the orifice hood. If you are using "LP"- then you need to tighten this down fully 1-1/2 -2 -turns snug on top of the orifice. This completes the mechanical end. Reconnect the wires to the safety valve. Make sure they are tight. Double check that the valve is in the on position. Use the bubble / water solution and make sure there are no gas leaks (extremely crucial for safety). Tighten as necessary w/ 2 adjustable wrenches. Make sure the gas valve at the house supply is now turned back on. Then reinstall the back cover and plug the unit in. Reinstall the unit. Install the door and drawer. Test the unit. Gas valve part # 3195008. Thank You.
Just installed new safety valve and igniter. When oven comes on. Flame comes up from bottom tray in oven. Is there a regulator adjustment that needs to be made?

Answer Nm, Are you using natural gas or a LP gas (a tank)? The new safety valve comes adjusted for natural gas. If you're using LP you have to adjust the burner orifice down(counterclockwise) 2 to 2 1/2 turns to set the proper fuel / air mixture, and remove the plastic cap and flip the brass cap under it, to the LP setting(remove and flip the cap over). Good Luck and Thanks
