I would like to know how to trouble shoot this gas valve.
Answer Hello Pat. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Do I need to change orfices LP to natural gas? Can I just adjust it?
Answer Hello Mary. No, you will need to install the natural gas orifice kit 814433 and flip the regulator. Hope this helps.
Hello, I need to convert my unit back to natural gas. Do I just adjust the gas valve regulator in order to do this, if so how do I adjust it? Please provide me instructions please.
Answer Mary, It's more envolved than that. If you do not have the original NAT gas orifices, you will need to order 814433 and replace the burner valve orifice with the appropriate orifice. Here are the basic instructions :'' The range is manufactured for use with natural gas. To convert the range for use with L.P. gas, perform the following steps. 1. Turn off the gas and electrical supplies to the range. 2. Remove the broiler drawer from the range. To do this, open the drawer as far as it will go, lift the front to disengage the rollers, and pull it forward.
3. Raise the cooktop and prop it up.NOTE: The conversion cap has NAT stamped on one side , and L.P. inside the hollow end on the other side. 4. To convert the gas distribution valve: a)Use a large screwdriver and turn the conversion cap on the gas distribution valve to disengage the pins from the slots. b)Remove the cap, turn it over so the L.P. side is facing up, and reinstall it on the valve.NOTE: The L.P. orifices are supplied in a bag with the written material. When you remove the natural gas orifices, store them in the L.P. orifice bag in case you need them later on. 5. To convert the gas valves: a)Remove the burner venturi from the gas valves. b)Use a 3/8? socket and remove the natural gas orifices from the gas valves. c) Install the L.P. gas orifices on the gas valves. 6. To convert the oven burner: a)Remove the oven burner from over the orifice. b)Use a 1/2? socket and turn the oven burner orifice hood clockwise until it is snug (approximately 2-1/2-turns). DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE ORIFICE. The burner flame cannot be properly adjusted if this conversion is not made. 7. Reassemble the range." Of course you'll be installing the orifices and doing the reverse as far as flipping the regulator cap and adjusting the bake burner orifice up(counterclockwise), etc. But you'll do fine. Thanks and Good Luck
