My ice tray keeps overflowing and filling the bottom of the ice bucket. I just replaced both the primary and secondary water valves
You will want to check to make sure that the fill cup of the icemaker is not clogged with ice causing the over flow issue. If the water is not stopping and continually coming through then you will need to replace the water valve. Also check to make sure that the icemaker is not continually cycling which would also cause this issue.
Water is overflowing from the ice maker into the freezer. It is also making big clumps of ice. Do we need to replace the secondary water valve or the main water valve?
Also, is the replacement of either of these valves fairly simple as my husband will be making the repair.
PS-This is an Amana refrigerator.
Answer Hello Lisa,
While the primary valve 12544001 normally fails before the secondary 12544101, both have to open and close to allow water to come through. If water is getting through enough to make ice clumps, the manufacturer says both valves should be replaced since the water has to pass through both of them to get there. One valve was probably partially bad before the other failed.
